Product Engineer - Plano, TX

DUTIES: Interface with Field Application Engineers (FAE), Customer Service Representatives (CSR), field sales offices and semiconductor wafer fabs and package manufacturing to define and develop new products and their specifications, and bring qualified new products to market in a timely manner. 

Provide sustaining support on existing products to realize yield enhancement, alternate bill of material (BOM) qualifications and/or product porting to alternate assembly/test sites and/or foundries. Work closely with wafer source and packaging manufacturing on samples requests, new product development and releases, and provide technical data sheets with complete specification of parameters. Ensure new product meets QA and yield standards and that specifications are set appropriately.

Understand the market and product position as compared with competitors. Perform competitive benchmark and analysis on new products. Work with characterization test staff for complete new product characterization and benchmarks. Support manufacturing division's mass production ramp up activities, such as re-qualifications for yield improvement or cost reduction, etc. Support FAE's, CSR's and field sales offices on product related issues to maximize sales.

Review and analyze large amounts of raw data including characterization test data, high reliability test data, data from automated test equipment. Work in an engineering lab, use power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes and network analyzers, and use Microsoft Office. Constantly seek next generation new product ideas and opportunities. Provide feedback on the market and product trend information to manufacturing divisions for next generation new product development. Complete new product business analyses by collecting cost, yield and market price information.  Calculate return on investment, gross profit margin and margin dollars.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and 6 months of experience in the job offered, as a customer technical support or sales support. Experience therein to include experience, college coursework or college project work in product engineering or test engineering, including working in an engineering lab, using power supplies, function generators, oscilloscopes and network analyzers, and using Microsoft Office. Experience or college coursework in semiconductors.
