Semiconductor Manufacturing Specialist - Nights - South Portland, ME

Diodes Incorporated is seeking a Manufacturing Specialist - Nights at our South Portland, ME factory, assisting the Shift Supervisor with managing the workflow of a team covering a 12-hour rotating 3-day work schedule. As a Manufacturing Specialist, this person assists the Shift Leader with managing the workflow across departments to maximize its efficiency and optimize resources and daily operations. 

The Operations Specialist position is in place to provide SPFAB operators the opportunity to advance beyond Level 3 with a focus on either manufacturing processes and leadership or a focus on engineering processes and sustaining. This role is intended to empower employees at the operator level to take on new challenges and a growth opportunity within our organization for those who have the desire to make positive change. Operations Specialists are expected to be leaders in the fab and role models among their peers.  

 Principle Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assists Shift Leader with scheduling the activities of a 6PM to 6AM shift, keeping training matrix and other appropriate records updated and coordinating cross-training opportunities.  May be responsible for actual training.
  • Trained to be a backup in the Shift Leader’s absence with certain identified restrictions. 
  • High involvement with LEAN, works with Industrial Engineer on special projects, and core teams for area improvement. Acts as a Change agent on Lean Projects.
  • Establishes daily strategy for area and effectively communicates daily goals and objectives to workforce.
  • Develops and implements SOP’s for new tools and area improvements.
  • Works with peers – operators, engineers and equipment maintenance technicians to minimize line disruptions.
  • Participates in root cause investigations and corrective actions responses by making suggestions to minimize or eliminate repeat quality excursions (i.e. station layout modifications) and takes actions to address issues.
  • Understands line balance and makes decisions that are best for entire factory.
  • Participates in manufacturing leadership staff meetings as invited.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, etc.)
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in a related field; semiconductor manufacturing preferred
  • Basic math skills and computer proficiency – Excel
  • Ability to demonstrate computer proficiency and receive a passing score on a job-specific computer assessment
  • Ability to work 12 hour shifts on a rotating schedule 
  • Must be able to work in PPE designed for a laboratory-like environment for the majority of 12hr shift.
  • Must be willing to work in a highly controlled, clean-room environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing using English
  • Ability to stand for at least 85% of the time (up to 10 hours) during any particular shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 15lbs
  • Comfort working with and around chemicals (safety training is provided)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in both a team environment and independently environment
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task prioritize effectively to push tasks through to completion 
  • Is flexible and adapts to changes in direction.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing using English

Night shift provides a 15% shift differential on top of the base pay.
