Diodes Incorporated — Analog and discrete power solutions

Low Dropout Regulator from Diodes Incorporated Saves Space in Portable Applications

Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, today introduced the AP7341, a 300mA-rated low dropout regulator in the miniature DFN1010-4 package. With a tiny 1.0mm x 1.0mm footprint and height of 0.4mm, the device aids in the design of high-density circuits in portable products, including smart phones, media players and compact cameras.

The regulator's high power supply ripple rejection ratio of 75dB and low noise performance of 60μVrms makes it particularly attractive in more noise-sensitive audio, video and RF communications applications. The AP7341's output accuracy is also high, maintained at 1.5% over the temperature range -40oC to +85oC. Output voltage is fixed at 0.1V steps between 1.1V and 3.3V.

Operating over the wide 1.7V to 5.25V input voltage range, the regulator is able to support Li+ battery cells over their full battery charge and discharge cycle. At 35μA, the device's quiescent current is very low, helping to extend standby and operating times. In addition, an enable input allows the output to be turned off if required.
