Diodes Incorporated — Analog and discrete power solutions

Single-Channel Load Switch from Diodes Incorporated Features 4.5V to 12V Input and Adjustable Ramp Rates in 2mm x 2mm Package

Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD), a leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality application specific standard products within the broad discrete, logic and analog semiconductor markets, today introduced a single-channel load switch designed to operate from 4.5V up to 12V with a near-zero quiescent supply current that makes it suitable for use in battery-powered netbooks, tablets and e-Readers. The AP22850 can handle power up/down sequencing with load currents up to 8A and adjustable start-up and discharge rates. It is offered in the space-saving, thermally efficient 2mm x 2mm x 0.8mm W-DFN2020-8 package, maximizing available board space.

The ever-increasing portable-computing market continues to demand more integrated and capable load switches. These are required for distributed power control and low-voltage differential signalling where switches rated for continuous output-current operation with power-good indication and adjustable discharge are key. These functions and performance are delivered cost- effectively by the AP22850, which is based on a P-channel MOSFET that has a low typical RDS(ON) of 20mΩ. The device can handle inputs up to 12V with a maximum output current of 8A but with a quiescent (no-load) current of just 1.2nA.

The AP22850 does not require an external gate pull-up resistor and integrates circuitry to suppress fast input transients from coupling to the output; these features contribute to reduced BOM costs and board area savings. Further information is available at www.diodes.com.
