Description

The AL8820 is a highly integrated high performance LED driver optimized for MR16/AR111 and other similar LED lamp applications. With a proprietary control scheme, the LED driver is compatible with many commonly used electronic transformers and meets High Power Factor (PF) and low Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) requirements for these applications.

 

The device integrates two DC/DC converters. The Two stage design offers superior performance for MR16/AR111 applications. The first stage is a boost PFC stage which improves PF, reduces EMI, powers up the Buck stage and the compatibility of Electronic Transformers. The Buck stage regulates the LED current thru the setting of external sense resistor. The integrated low RDSON of integrated MOSFETs reduce the conduction power loss. A compact thermally efficient SO- 8EP package, the AL8820 provides an ideal solution for MR16/AR111 applications.
